Lois (O’Neill) Ries, 94, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away, Saturday, December 22, 2018. Born December 18, 1924, in Toledo, Ohio, she was the daughter of George P. and Florence F. (Frazier) O’Neill. She married the love of her life, Frederick J. Ries, Sr. on August 10, 1946. He preceded her in death March 21, 1999, after 52 years of marriage. Lois was a loyal member of Regina Coeli Catholic Church since it’s beginning in 1954, where she was a member of the choir for 50 years. She was also a member of the Altar Rosary, where she served as an officer. Lois worked in payroll at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center, until she retired in 1982. She had many hobbies, including, collecting dolls, singing and bowling. Lois was also a member of several groups, including the retirees of St. Vincent. She will be remembered for her love of jewelry, excellent fashion sense, and her stories of Big Chief Long Underwear. Lois was loved by and will be missed by everyone she met.
She is survived by her loving children, Ellen (Robert) Parker, Frederick (Claudette) Ries, Jr. and Martha (Dennis) Jacobs; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 1great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Visitation will be from 3-8 pm, Thursday, December 27, 2018, at the Michael W. Pawlak Funeral Home, 1640 Smith Rd. (at Jackman) Temperance, MI. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, December 28, 2018, at Regina Coeli Catholic Church, 530 Regina Parkway, Toledo, OH 43612, where she will lie in state after 9:00 am. Lois’ family would like to extend a special thank you to the loving staff at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania for all the care they gave over the years and Ohio Living Hospice.
